A story of less is more

Posted on May 22, 2017 by admin Posted in Site news

Live and learn. We tried the ticking of boxes thing, to tell you in every single entry, if an event is: all ages, has a dance floor, how many people the dance area accommodates, if it’s outside, yada, yada, yada. We were doing our darnedest to have the most information for you. If you could see all the scrolling and clicking we were doing to make that happen. . .

So, now we’re working smarter, so we don’t burn out. But it’s cool for you. Here’s why:

Go to the calendar page and pick an event. Most any event. Now click on the venue. Bam! Everything you ever wanted to know about dancing to music at that juke joint, farmers market or restaurant. And then you know, and you don’t have to click through next time. And we only have to tick the “Click on venue for description” box and the genres, and we can load stuff up at lightening speed. And still have time to go dance.

Since we only have to enter this information once, we can be more complete. Sometimes a whole paragraph.

You won’t see the details you don’t need again and again, and we have less work.

Know what else is cool when you click on venue, that you may not have known or forgotten? All of its upcoming gigs will display below the description. How cool is that?

So, before June, we’ll have ALL the outdoor farmers markets, street fairs and summer series listed – in addition to most of the venues. We’re also getting some winery series in there. And festivals. And it’s oh, so much easier.

We would still love to have a Petaluma scout and a winery liaison to get us information about even more places folks can shake their booty. And, as always, tell all your music-loving friends about us.

The season has begun! Enjoy!

What fans are saying . . .

What a terrific web page! I don’t know how many times I’ve had to wade through the internet, trying in vain to see who was playing and where. Your coverage is better than any I’ve seen online.

I just wanna thank you both for having such a wonderful and complete list of dance venues! Happy dancin’! Love you guys!

Getting your live music event listed

This site is not self-serve. If you don't see your event listed, please go to the Get Listed page to send information about your dance music gig. Alternately, you can send information to "answers at" this domain. Either way, make sure to list all five things we include: Band name, Date with start/end time, Venue, Cost and Genres (in one- or two-word descriptors, please). Thanks so much!
